DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Akron and Summit County Federation of Women’s Clubs will meet April 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 263 E. Mill St., with club President Marilyn Warner presiding. Betty Cummings will introduce Sue Maroccino, who will present an “Antique Critique.” Members may bring one article for appraisal. NORTON — The Twinbrooks Garden Club will meet April 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Norton Branch Library, 3930 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road. James Ruch, from Ruch Chiropractic Center, will discuss how to bend and lift for spring gardening without incurring injuries. Art teacher Diane Justice also is scheduled to make a presentation. Scripts
& Scribes Calligraphy Guild will
have its monthly meeting April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Fairlawn
Park Garden and Civic Center, located on the corner
of White Pond Drive and West Market Street. Joan Stenger,
a local calligrapher and photographer and current chairwoman
of Calligraphic Displays for the Guild, will demonstrate
how to use acrylic paints with calligraphy as well as
“How to Stretch Canvas” for painting and
lettering. The meeting is open to the public. For more
