Revere Local Schools students amass cultural arts
awards

BATH/RICHFIELD — Out of
approximately 22,000 entries in the state, 16 Revere
Local Schools District students won awards for their
entries in an annual cultural arts contest called Reflections.
The Ohio PTA sponsors Reflections,
which awards students in preschool through 12th grade
for their creativity in four areas: literature, visual
arts, photography and musical composition.
Jeff Carr, chairperson of the
Reflections program for the Revere Council of PTAs,
introduced the winners during the March 21 meeting of
the Revere Local Schools Board of Education. The winners
received certificates as well as congratulations from
the school board.
The winners included:
√ Bath Elementary School:
Grace Berry, musical composition; Morgan
Carr, visual arts; Cassidy Jester, photography; Katherine
Zudock, photography; and Lizzie Zudock, visual arts.
√ Hillcrest Elementary
School: Katie Carlos, musical composition; Tristan Jandrey,
visual arts; Miranda Koewler, literature; Ben Tipton,
visual arts; and Maggie Zudock, photography.
√ Revere Middle School:
Ethan Carr, visual arts; Naureen Huda, visual arts;
Liesl Jandrey, musical composition; and Grant Stenroos,
musical composition.
√ Revere High School: Jacklyn
Friend, literature; and Kelsey Jandrey, visual arts.
In other student news, the Revere
Middle School chess team, comprised of John Ahlborg,
Marc Ahlborg, Peter Cai and Dan Povitsky, won second
place in the state middle school competition this month.
The district’s junior varsity chess
team took first place in their league with a team of
John Ahlborg, Marc Ahlborg, Enoch Kuo, Greg Roemer and
Brian Six.
In addition, a billboard design
created by high school students Sean Goodman and Matt
White won a contest sponsored by the Summit/Akron Solid
Waste Management Authority to promote recycling. Their
sign will appear on a local billboard in April.
