Trustees hear building project updates
Boston Township Board of Trustees

Boston Township Zoning Inspector Paul Kaczmarski reported on several projects at the March 22 Boston Township Board of Trustees meeting.
He said the Suncrest Gardens and the Church in the Valley had both received approvals for their storm water drainage plans, qualifying them for zoning permits. He also said there was some interest in installing a pressure sanitary sewer south from Kendall Road along Cleveland-Massillon Road.
Other Zoning Commission members said they feared that, even though the Joint Economic Development District agreement with Cuyahoga Falls, which is on the May 2 Primary Election ballot, might be approved, no development may take place because of the lack of sewer and water services. But Kaczmarski said he didn’t see it happening, saying that the best solution would be a gravity line running south and connecting to Cuyahoga Falls sewers.
“It’s more complicated than it appears,” he said, referring to the pressure sewer. “Everyone along the line would have to have a grinder pump,” making the project very expensive.
In other zoning news, the township has received two applications for the position of assistant zoning inspector. Trustees think the position has become necessary because of the current workload of inspections. Interviews have been set for April 12 at 6 p.m. Kaczmarski said he intends to create an electronic file of zoning permit applications and other related forms so that he no longer has to complete them by hand.
Trustees also discussed replacing the roof of the Valley Fire District building, which will become the home of the township street department when the Valley Fire District moves to new quarters. That move is planned for sometime late this summer or early fall.
Road Superintendent Tim Tesmer said it would be best to replace the roof when the building is empty because of debris that falls during the replacement. He added, “The new roof is already 10 years past due.”
Trustees replied they needed to establish specifications for the new roof and would move it forward as fast as possible.
New roofs also may be necessary for township salt sheds. Trustees said that because of the overall condition of the salt sheds, it might be necessary to replace each shed rather than just replace the roof.
Tesmer said that could be dealt with over time, perhaps one per year for the next three years.
The next Boston Township trustees’ meeting is scheduled for April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, at the intersection of Main Street and Riverview Road in Peninsula.
