West Akron gymnasts compete in largest U.S. meet
CUYAHOGA FALLS — Four West
Akron gymnasts — Samantha Balaj, Madeline Fortune,
Emma Petit and Kara Petit — competed at the Chicago
Style Gymnastics Meet last month.
This meet is the largest gymnastics
competition in the United States, with more than 3,500
girls participating. Samantha Balaj, competing at Level
4, placed first on uneven parallel bars with a score
of 9.5 and placed first in the all around.  Madeline
Fortune, competing as a
Level 6, placed second on balance beam with a score
of 9.45 and second on floor with a score of 9.35. Level
7 gymnast Emma Petit, shown above right, tied for third
on uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.20. Kara Petit,
competing as a Level 5, placed second on uneven parallel
bars with a score of 9.575, third on floor with a score
of 9.425 and third in the all around.
The girls are gymnasts for FlytzUSA,
located in Cuyahoga Falls.
