Aherns Florists closes, $134,500
in debt
FAIRLAWN — Amid action taken against it in Summit County Common Pleas Court, Aherns Florists apparently has closed its 3120 W. Market St. flower shop.
This month, Champaign National Bank in Akron filed a complaint against Aherns Florists and Michael Ahern and Sean Ahern, claiming the business failed to pay on a promissory note issued in April 2004 in the amount of $176,000. As of March 10, Aherns owed the bank principal, accrued interest and charges in the amount of $134,500, plus court costs and additional interest accrued since March 10, according to the complaint.
Judge Jane Bond granted judgment against Aherns March 15.
The Web site www.ahernsflorist.com has
posted this message:
“After many wonderful years in the floral business, Aherns Florists has closed. We appreciate your loyalty over the years and regret any inconvenience this may cause you.”
The site lists six Ohio florists that customers may consider “to assist you in your current and future purchases.”
Michael Ahern and Sean Ahern could not be reached for comment, and the business phone numbers listed for Aherns Florists were ringing without answer March 28.
