DOWNTOWN AKRON — Best-selling author, satirist and National Public Radio commentator David Sedaris will present his work and sign books at the Akron Civic Theatre April 8 at 8 p.m. Sedaris is the author of essay collections “Barrel Fever,” “Naked,” “Me Talk Pretty One Day” and his latest, “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim.” In 2001, Time magazine named Sedaris “Humorist of the Year,” and he received the Thurber Prize for American Humor. He also was nominated for two Grammy awards in 2005 for spoken word albums. DOWNTOWN AKRON — The 24th Annual Akron Antiquarian Book Fair will return to downtown Akron April 7 from 3 to 8:30 p.m. and April 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The nonprofit Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society (NOBS) sponsors the event. BROOK PARK — The I-X Indoor Amusement Park, presented by Marc’s, is returning to the I-X Center April 7-30, with more than 20 acres of family fun. The I-X Indoor Amusement Park will be in the I-X Center on state Route 237, adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The cost is $18 for general admission, $15 for children shorter than 48 inches; $9 for senior citizens ages 60 and older; and free for children ages 2 and younger. Advance tickets are available for $15 at Marc’s. McDonald’s has coupons for $2 off one adult general admission any day and $4 off one adult general admission April 17-21 after 4 p.m. Bring a Mountain Dew can to the I-X Center Box Office after 5 p.m. April 7, 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27 and receive one general admission ticket for $10. The park will be closed on April 10 and 24. PENINSULA — The Peninsula Library, 6105 Riverview Road, invites the public to a puppet show about Br’er Rabbit April 8 at 10 a.m. Puppet Master Nancy Sander’s Puppets with Pizazz will present “Br’er Rabbit in Love,” co-starring Miss Meadow with a guest appearance by Br’er Wolf, Br’er Wildcat, Br’er Terry-pan and Br’er Gator. This program is for families and children of all ages. In addition, The Friends of the Peninsula Library will once again sponsor the Spring Jazz Festival, April 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Happy Days Visitors Center, 500 W. Streetsboro Road.
