Women’s Endowment Fund awards $36,066 to nonprofit
programs
AKRON — The Women’s Endowment Fund of the Akron Community Foundation (ACF) awarded grants totaling $36,066 to eight Greater Akron nonprofit organizations to support programs that benefit women and girls in Summit County. The ACF Board of Trustees ratified the grants Feb. 17 at its quarterly meeting.
The following grants were awarded:
American Heart Association — Akron District Area, for the “Co-eds Go Red!” program at The University of Akron, $2,233;
Boys and Girls Clubs of Summit County, for “SMART Girls” after-school programs, $3,000;
Copley High School for the girls’ golf tournament and fitness and nutrition seminar, $2,500;
Cuyahoga Valley Career Center, for the Glass Ceiling Roundtable, a mentoring and leadership program for high school girls, $1,333;
H.M. Life Opportunity Services, for the Transitional Assistance Guidance (TAG) Program, $5,000;
International Institute of Akron Inc., for the International Women’s Conference, $3,000;
Mustard Seed Development Center, for the Financial Management and Homeownership Program for women and financial education for at-risk high school girls, $11,000; and
Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Services Foundation, for the Eden Alternative Training program, $8,000.
The Women’s Endowment Fund
of ACF, established in 1993, has grown to more than
$1 million, and the fund has awarded more than $200,000
