with mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, dessert

GREEN — Queen
of Heaven Church, 1800
Steese Road, will present Divine Mercy April 23 from
3 to 4 p.m., an outdoor service for St. Faustina. The
devotional hour will consist of chanting and praying
the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, followed by Benediction.
Participants are asked to bring their own lawn chairs
and help to hold the Divine Mercy banner.
FAIRLAWN — The Unitarian
Universalist Church of Akron,
3300 Morewood Road, will host “The Green Fair”
April 30 from noon until 3 p.m. Admission is free and
open to all. Presenters will represent professional
agencies and businesses providing practical answers
for current challenges to ecology. A community drum
circle will follow from 3:15 to 4 p.m., leading into
the second Sunday service, “A Planet Called Home.”

DOWNTOWN AKRON —
The Catholic Commission has scheduled “Community
Conversations” with
Voices and Choices April 28 and May 16 from 11:30 a.m.
to 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 292 E. Market
St. The Community Conversations will focus on significant
regional issues, such as employment, education, equity
and fairness, quality of life and regional cooperation.

SPRINGFIELD — Project
Sawyerwood, a yearly mission
project of Sawyerwood United Methodist Church designed
to help local homeowners in need, is scheduled for July
10-14. The effort provides basic home repairs and yard
work for residents. Information and pictures from last
year’s project is available at the Web site www.sawyerwood.org.
With area merchants contributing needed supplies and
funds, all work is done free of charge to the residents.
Volunteers are needed to assist in this year’s
effort. Donations also will be accepted. Volunteers
who are nonmembers of Sawyerwood will be asked for a
$40 donation to help toward the cost of food, project
logo T-shirt and supplies. For more information, contact

SUMMIT COUNTY —
The Respect Life
Recipient Committee of the Summit Regional Council of
Catholic Women is now
taking applications for five $1,000 grants to be awarded
to not-for-profit organizations at its 30th annual Respect
Life Dinner Oct. 24. The committee will consider applicants
whose project raises the quality of life for clients
they serve. Grants may not be used for operating expenses,
salaries or other administrative expenses. Organizations
that have received a $1,000 grant from the Respect Life
Fund are not eligible to reapply for four subsequent
