Boston Mills Road resurfacing delayed
Richfield Township Board of Trustees

Richfield Township Administrator Linda Bowmer said Boston Mills Road will not be resurfaced this year. Her announcement came at the May 18 Richfield Township Board of Trustees meeting.
The work was a potential project for the office of Summit County Engineer Greg Bachman. However, the engineer said at his annual dinner that the work would not take place in 2006, according to Bowmer. In other news, the trustees voted to allocate $1,000 for legal expenses for the completion of the Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) in the north-central area of the township. The JEDD is an area designed to attract businesses with the help of water service from Cleveland and sewer service from Richfield Village.
Council also voted to spend $300 on herbicide to take care of the dandelions at the north field of Rising Valley Park. Township Trustee David Wyatt said the herbicide is not harmful to children. In other news:
Bowmer said the Akron Zoo sent a letter thanking the township for contributing to the success of Richfield Day at the Zoo May 6.
Trustee Laurie Peters Gilmore said the body of the new dump truck has arrived. The truck is currently being fitted for its bed at Carnegie Body Co.
Road resurfacing may not take place this year due to the high cost of oil, according to Gilmore. “It wasn’t a vicious winter, so we may make it through OK,” Wyatt added.
The trustees talked about their plans to participate in a mock disaster exercise, which was scheduled for May 20. The drill was a test of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), which is designed to help local and federal officials communicate effectively during an emergency.
The next Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for June 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the township offices, located behind the fire station on West Streetsboro Road.
