SEVILLE — The Seville Presbyterian Church, 101 Center St., will celebrate its 175th anniversary with a series of events June 24-25. Activities will begin June 24 with an open house featuring a historical timeline including a display of artifacts, as well as church activities and a Memory Hall with photographs. At 3 p.m. the church will host an old-fashioned strawberry festival with ice cream sundaes and strawberry shortcake, along with numerous activities for children. The next day, a celebration worship service with music, the unveiling of an anniversary banner, and memory booklets for all participants will take place. NORTON — Johnson United Methodist Church will send a team of 30 volunteers to aid in Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts in New Orleans. The team, which will be commissioned during the 10:45 a.m. worship service June 25, will leave for New Orleans July 1 and return July 8. This is a youth mission trip affiliated with GROUP Magazine Workcamps, of Colorado. Members of Johnson Church traveled to Biloxi, Miss., in November and April to help with recovery, cleanup and building efforts. The Katrina Workcamp Team consists of 18 senior high youth and 12 adult volunteers. The group will reside in a host church for the week and repair homes with other volunteers from churches. The Katrina Workcamp Team kicked off their fund-raising efforts in February to cover costs such as travel, van rentals, gasoline, meals, tools and building supplies. HUDSON — Temple Beth Shalom, 72 N. Main St., will conduct its annual summer adult education course on three successive Wednesday nights — July 5, 12 and 19 —from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The course will be on the Book of Deuteronomy. OLMSTED FALLS — “Catholic Marriage and Relationships” is the topic for the next Theology on Tap, July 12 at the West Side Irish-American Club, 8559 Jennings Road. Mary Dwyer-Kueller, chairperson of the Theology Department at Magnificat High School, will speak at the summer installment of Theology on Tap, an unconventional lecture series on religious issues. Dwyer-Kueller’s talk will begin at 7:30 p.m., following a happy hour at 6:30 p.m. There will be a cash bar and complimentary appetizers. Admission is $3, and seating is limited. CUYAHOGA FALLS — Shepherd Multimedia, in association with Church Report Magazine, will host a church multimedia seminar at the Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls, 1989 Front St., Aug. 8. Multimedia specialist Darren Macdonald will present a grass-roots approach to church multimedia and an introduction to the latest video projectors, presentation hardware accessories, as well as a hands-on demonstration of a worship presentation control program, SundayPlus. A personal consultation session will follow the master class, and attendees are encouraged to bring photos, drawings and, if available, blueprints of their church to aid in the session.
