Shrine Club thanks stores, customers for support
To the editor:
Dear Friends: We wish to extend our sincere thanks to the store personnel and customers of Acme No. 10 (State Road, Cuyahoga Falls); Acme No. 17 (Kent Road, Stow); Acme No. 12 (Bailey Road, Cuyahoga Falls) and Acme No. 15 (Medina Road, Akron), along with other contributors, for their generosity during our Hospital Promotion Drive held June 9-10 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Your thoughtfulness made this effort a huge success.
The approved 2006 budget to operate the 22 Shriners Hospitals throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico is $649 million. This includes $33 million for research and another $33 million for buildings and equipment. During the past 84 years, approximately $7.6 billion has been spent to operate Shriners Hospitals, and more than $1.73 billion has been spent on construction and renovation. During 2005, Shriners Hospitals approved 37,755 new patient applications and cared for 123,385 patients. The services provided are never charged to the patient, parent or guardian, and no insurance monies or government funds are taken. An annual assessment is paid by every Shriner, and gifts, bequests and contributions are eagerly sought from the public. Your support continues to be outstanding, and we are most grateful.
The Shriners Hospitals for Children will continue to give children the high quality care for which they are noted, and, as noted above, at no cost to the families because of the contributions from people such as you. Once again, we extend our hand in friendship and tip our Shriners’ fez to the Acme Stores and all our contributors. God bless you all. Dale Caler, chairman, Hospital Promotion Drive, Cuyahoga Falls Shrine Club
