Marino, Smith to marry
George Marino and Melissa Smith are
engaged to be married. Melissa is the daughter of Nancy
Mancini, of Cuyahoga Falls, and David Smith, of Stow,
and the granddaughter of Theresa Mancini, of Cuyahoga
Falls. George is the son of Nick and Mary Marino, of West
Akron.
Melissa graduated from Archbishop
Hoban High School in 2000
and received a bachelor’s degree from Miami University
in 2004. Recently, Melissa earned a master’s degree
in speech-language pathology at The University of Akron.
She is employed as a speech-language pathologist at
Easter Seals.
George graduated from Walsh Jesuit
High School in 2000 and earned a bachelor’s
degree in management information systems from The University
of Akron in 2005. George is employed as an application
developer at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
George and Melissa plan to marry in
the fall of 2007 at St. Sebastian Church in West Akron.
Von Spiegel, Sutherland engaged
Charles and Janice von Spiegel,
of West Akron, announce the engagement of their daughter
Jacqueline, of Columbus, to Brandon Sutherland, of Columbus,
son of Ray and Shirley Sutherland, of Marengo.
Jacqueline is a 1997 graduate
of Archbishop Hoban High School and has a
bachelor’s degree from The University of Akron
and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University
(OSU). She is currently a doctoral candidate in developmental
psychology at OSU.
Brandon graduated from Highland High
School in 1995 and Ohio State University in 2000. He is
employed at Nationwide Insurance
as a disability advocate.
The couple plan to wed Sept. 16, 2006,
at St. James the Less Catholic Church.
Rogers, Downes are wed
Mary Rogers and Douglas Downes
exchanged wedding vows May 27, 2006, in Pittsburgh.
The Rev. Gregory Held officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Richard
Rogers, of South Carolina, and Gayle Rogers, of Bath.
The groom is the son of Elaine and David Downes, of
Pennsylvania.
The maid of honor was Julie Sypherd,
and the bridesmaids were Emily Edwards, Naomi Rielly,
Leah Aliger, Christina Miller and Samantha Murphy. Joe
Thomas served as best man,
and the groomsmen were John Gappney Jr., John Blasco,
Mark Ricard, Matt Douglas and Sean Herr.
The special attendant was Megan Rogers.
Ushers included Chris Karl, Brian
Davitt and Alex Rogers. The readers were Julie Davitt,
Laurie Karl and Heidi Anderson. Maddie Karl, Emma Rogers
and Meredith Davitt served as program attendants.
The flower girl was Casey Davitt,
and the ring bearer was Patrick Davitt.
The bride graduated from
Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in criminology
and Duquesne University with a bachelor’s degree
in nursing. She is a registered nurse at Norfolk General
Hospital.
The groom graduated from the Pittsburgh
Institute of Mortuary Science and is a funeral director
with Twiford Funeral Home.
Following a reception in the Columbian
Room in Wexford, Pa., the couple honeymooned in Punta
Cana, Dominican Republic, and now reside in Virginia
Beach, Va.
Leedy, Postlewaite to wed
Dr. Marvin and Regran Leedy, of Bath, announce the engagement of their son, Drake, to Kimbra Postlewaite, the daughter of Peter and Pamela Postlewaite, of Chicago.
Kimbra received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Miami University and a master’s degree in business administration from DePaul University. She is a category manager at Solo Cup Co. Drake received a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from Miami University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. He is a project manager at Aon Consulting in Chicago.
The couple will marry Nov. 4 in
Lake Bluff, Ill.
