NEW FRANKLIN — The Friends of the Portage Lakes Branch Library, 4261 Manchester Road, will sponsor a Fall 2006 Book and Bake Sale Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A large variety of hardbound books, paperbacks, magazines and audio-visual materials will be available. This year’s sale will showcase older, vintage and collectable volumes, as well as a large selection of books on gardening.
