Area Jaycees welcome visitors
DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Akron Jaycees and the Barberton Area Jaycees will host a reception to welcome U.S. Junior Chamber (USJC) President Lisa Parrish and Junior Chamber International (JCI) President Lars Hajslund during their visit to Summit County. The reception will take place Sept. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bricco, 1 W. Exchange St.
The USJC, founded in 1920, provides people between the ages of 18 and 40 with opportunities for leadership development, community involvement, personal growth and networking. Formed in 1944, the JCI now has a presence in 108 countries around the world, according to the Jaycees organization.
Parrish, a native of Virginia, and Hajslund, from Silkeborg, Denmark, are traveling through the Midwest and will stop in Akron to discuss the opportunities for involvement with the local chapters of the USJC and JCI, and what members can expect to gain from the organization in return.
The reception is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about the Jaycee concept. Reservations are not required. For more information, contact Michele Tomer at (330) 643-2740 or the Akron Jaycees at (330) 867-8055 or akronjaycees@netzero.net.
