Books come alive at Reading Festival

DOWNTOWN AKRON — The second Akron Reading Festival attracted hundreds of families to Lock 3 Live! Park Sept. 16 for a day of puppets, storytelling and fun.
Brimfield resident Keon Dalziel, pictured at right, gets to try out a giant puppet head from the Hudson Vagabond Puppets, who performed “Monkey See, Monkey Do” as part of the festival.
Children attending the festival
were invited to take a free book, with dozens of age-appropriate
selections available. Pictured below is Alex Gump, of
Akron, as he selects a Scooby Doo book.
Jordan Jones, of Akron, spent part of her time at the festival listening to a story read by Stacy Bubba, a University of Akron senior. The two are pictured at bottom.
In addition to the Saturday family
events, the Akron Reading Festival also featured a lecture
by “Star Trek’s” Leonard Nimoy, a
workshop for aspiring writers and a day of author appearances
at the Akron-Summit County Main Branch Library.
