WEST AKRON — Theta Chi Fraternity Alumni of The University of Akron will have a luncheon meeting Sept. 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Jasper’s Restaurant, 566 White Pond Drive. The topic will be “Success in a Free Iraq.” Call (330) 668-2205 for reservations.
FAIRLAWN — The World War II-Korean War Roundtable will meet Sept. 28 at 6:45 p.m. at the Fairlawn-Kiwanis Community Center, 3486 S. Smith Road. James Phares, who helped capture a German submarine and the Enigma encoder, will discuss anti-submarine warfare in World War II (WWII). Also, books on WWII and Korea-related subjects, courtesy of the estate of Alan Smith, will be sold for $1 to $10 at the meeting to benefit the organization. The Oct. 26 meeting speaker will be David Ford, who was with American Field Service working with the British army in Italy.
