• DOWNTOWN AKRON — The League of Humane Voters will host a free seminar on lobbying for animals’ rights Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Akron-Summit County Public Library Main Branch, 60 S. High St., meeting room 2AB. Organizers will focus on laws to protect animals and people and will discuss pending legislation. • SOUTH AKRON — The Tom Parker for Judge Committee will host a family-style Dog & Suds fund-raiser Sept. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Akron FOP Lodge, 2610 Ley Drive. The suggested donation is $25 for family admission. The nonalcohol event will feature inflatables and games for children, hot dogs, bratwurst and other food items. The public is invited to attend.
