CUYAHOGA FALLS — The Citizens Committee for Children Services, which raises funds to support the levy efforts of Summit County Children Services, is sponsoring a Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Oct. 5 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the River Front Pavilion in downtown Cuyahoga Falls. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on artwork, theme baskets, jewelry, an autographed Ohio State University football and other items. In addition, local bead artist Christy Krainess will demonstrate her work. Presale tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple. Tickets at the door will cost $35 per person. BATH — The Stephen A. Comunale Jr. Family Foundation is planning an event to benefit its outreach program for cancer patients. “Kickin’ It in the Country” will take place Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at the home of Steve Sr. and Jane Comunale, 2300 Sourek Road. Partygoers will be treated to entertainment by Grammy Award-winner Juice Newton and dinner provided by Beau’s Grille, as well as an auction and a raffle on a piece of jewelry. Those in attendance will help to further the foundation’s mission “to provide comfort by easing the out-of-pocket financial burdens that confront cancer patients and their families.” Stephen Comunale Jr. died in February at age 27 after battling cancer. FAIRLAWN — Rick Sonata, a nationally known entertainer with a physical and vocal resemblance to Frank Sinatra, will headline the annual black-tie fund-raiser “Fly Me to the Moon,” for the Akron General Women’s Board Oct. 14 at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn, 3180 W. Market St. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction will start the evening at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. and entertainment and dancing. Gala tickets start at $150 per person and can be reserved by calling the Akron General Volunteer Services Department at (330) 344-6351. The deadline for reservations is Sept. 29. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Breast Health Center, the Emergency Department and the Level 1 Trauma Center at Akron General Medical Center.
