About town
GREEN — Progress Through Preservation (PTP) will meet Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at MAPS Air Museum. The museum is located on the grounds of the Akron-Canton Airport, and nonmembers are welcome to attend. The museum is located in the hangar donated by the airport in August 2001. The building originally was constructed to support an Ohio Air Guard base and was once home to P-51 Mustangs, T-6 Texans and C-119 and C-47 cargo aircraft during its years of military service, according to PTP officials. PTP members will receive a private tour of the building and exhibits, which include vintage military and civilian aircraft and related aviation displays and learn more about the work of the Military Aviation Preservation Society (MAPS), a nonprofit organization. Admission to the museum is $4.50. Before the meeting, PTP members and guests will gather for dinner at 5:30 p.m. at the 356th Fighter Group. For reservations, call Rosemary Reymann at (330) 867-8621 or visit www.ptpakron .org. Dinner reservations are due by Sept. 23 at noon.
