Police briefs
AKRON — Delano
Harrison,
23, of Crosby Street, was sentenced Sept. 21 by Summit
County Court of Common Pleas Judge Brenda Unruh to four
years in prison for his role in the robbery of a gas station
in Cuyahoga Falls. Harrison pleaded guilty Aug. 18 to
aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; failure to
comply with the order of a police officer, a fourth-degree
felony; and a firearm specification. On May 20, Harrison
and Ryan
McQuirter
led Akron police on a high-speed chase through business
and residential areas. Cuyahoga Falls police initially
followed the vehicle after the
men committed an armed robbery at the Holland Oil Citgo
station on Portage Trail Extension. Cuyahoga Falls police
notified Akron police after the co-defendants traveled
into Akron. The defendants refused to stop and led police
on a pursuit at speeds up to 50 mph through areas in West
Akron, through at least three stop signs and a red light.
The vehicle pursuit ended after the defendants crashed
into a utility pole in Highland Square. Both defendants
were apprehended after running through nearby yards. Police
observed McQuirter holding an object on his hip, which
turned out to be a semi-automatic
handgun. McQuirter’s pockets were stuffed with money.
McQuirter, 19, of Boulevard Street, pleaded guilty July
27 to aggravated robbery; obstructing official business,
a second-degree misdemeanor; tampering with evidence,
a third-degree felony; carrying a concealed weapon, a
fourth-degree felony; and a firearm specification. He
was sentenced Aug. 24 to eight years in prison.
WEST AKRON — Summit
County Sheriff Drew Alexander announced Sept. 22 that
Marlin

He was arrested after he
was found to be in possession of about 2 kilograms of
cocaine with a wholesale value in excess of $45,000 and
a street value in excess of $100,000. The arrest was the
result of a search warrant executed by members of the
Summit County Drug Unit, the Summit County Sheriff’s
Office SWAT Team and the U.S. Marshal’s Office Fugitive
Task Force. During the operation, officers also found
loaded weapons, including a semi-automatic handgun and
a semi-automatic assault-type rifle, along with other
drug-related paraphernalia inside the residence. Burros
was transported to the Summit County
Jail and charged with possession of cocaine, a felony
of the first degree. If convicted, he faces incarceration
from three to 10 years and a fine up to $20,000.
