Big Brothers & Sisters names annual award winners
GREATER AKRON — Big Brothers & Sisters of Summit & Medina Counties recently announced that James Foraker, Richard Ernst and Laurie Perduyn-Demchak are The Big Brothers and Big Sister of the Year. Foraker and Ernst were tied in voting for big brother honors and shared the designation.
Foraker and his little brother, Mark, have been together three years. Ernst and his little brother, Max, have been together for almost six years. Perduyn-Demchak and her little sister, Ariel, have been together for three months, but her former match to little sister Stephanie lasted four years.
Matt Pruszynski was the organization’s Distinguished Service Award winner, recognized for his efforts as part of the Golf For Kids’ Sake and Bowl For Kids’ Sake committees. He is a former board member and big brother and participated in fund-raisers and recruitment efforts.
In addition, the following businesses and organizations will receive Friends of Big Brothers & Sisters awards for raising more than $1,000 for the program: FirstMerit Bank, South Akron Eagles, Cuyahoga Falls Eagles, Rawiga Country Club, Wal-Mart, Kim’s College of Martial Arts and Westfield Group.
Award winners will receive plaques and recognition at an appreciation dinner/holiday party Dec. 2 from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Cathedral Buffet, 2690 State Road in Cuyahoga Falls.
