• GREATER AKRON — Portage Path Behavioral Health is looking for support hotline volunteers to provide telephone crisis intervention for Summit Coutny residents. Volunteers are trained to use active listening skills to help callers who are in crisis or thinking about suicide. Training classes are scheduled to begin in January. • COLUMBUS — Horse owners can now turn to a comprehensive, research-based Web site for information about such topics as diseases, nutrition and management, reproduction and breeding. The U.S. Land Grant University system has launched HorseQuest, www.extension.org/horses, the first of a series of program topics designed to bring the resources of the Cooperative Extension Service to a broader audience via the Internet. HorseQuest is an interactive Web site that provides news, events, frequently asked questions, chats and “Ask the Expert” features, as well as in-depth learning modules on equine-related topics.
