UDS’ Basket Ball scores with patrons

DOWNTOWN
AKRON — Patrons at the third annual Basket Ball
gala donned classic Chuck Taylors and other athletic
footwear for the United Disability Services (UDS) fund-raiser
held March 31.
The University of Akron Student Union Ballroom was the site of the event, which featured auctions, dinner and the NCAA Final Four games projected on the walls. Those in attendance were asked to wear their finest in gym shoes along with their party attire.

West Akron residents Sally and Ray Miller show off their shoes for the occasion, as pictured at right.
Shown above left as they check out the auction items are Tom Luck and Marcia Dilbeck, both of Akron.
The Basket Ball gala celebrates UDS’ Buckeye Baskets gift basket enterprise, which provides work for people in the Akron area with disabilities. UDS has helped people with disabilities since 1949 and serves individuals in Summit and Portage counties. Organizers anticipated raising about $100,000 from the event. — By Kathleen Folkerth
