HARTVILLE — Lake Center Christian School, 12895 Kaufman Ave. N.W., will host its first Tiger 5K and One-Mile Fun-Run April 28. Registration for the 5K is $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the event; registration for the Fun-Run is $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the event. The Fun-Run will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Tiger 5K at 9 a.m. Also, a pancake breakfast benefiting the senior high school class trip will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 11. Tickets are $6 for adults or $4 children for ages 12 and younger. The race will start and end on the Lake Center campus. COVENTRY — The Cottage Grove Primary School spring music program “Lemonade” will be presented May 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the gymnasium at Lakeview Elementary School, 2910 S. Main St. The free musical performance, by second-grade classes, will show how to make lemonade with the lemons that life sometimes hands out. For details, call (330) 644-7649.
DOWNTOWN AKRON — Applications are now being accepted for The University of Akron’s 2007 Summer Honors Institute for Gifted High School Students, which runs July 30 to Aug. 10. Students must be going into their sophomore or junior years to apply. Students may commute to campus daily or take advantage of a residential option. The institute is free for students who commute; there is a charge to stay on campus. The nine, full-day class offerings include: The Polymer Scientist, Life of a Lawyer, Broadcast News, You’re in Business, Engineering Technology, The Color Photographer, Alice in Programland, a CSI course and a cryptography course.
