AKRON — Teresa Noland, a 22-year education veteran, has been named Akron Public Schools’ 2006-07 Teacher of the Year. Noland teaches fifth grade at Glover Elementary School. Noland was one of seven nominees for Teacher of the Year. The other nominees were: Christine Bates-Lankey, Lincoln Elementary School; Sarah Core, Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts; Patricia Espe, Perkins Middle School; Kristen Hawkins, Harris Elementary School; Candace Minchin, Judith A. Resnik Community Learning Center; and Maria Newman, Garfield High School. Also, the Marilyn Parks Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Sylvia Baxter, of Glover Elementary School.
