GREATER AKRON — Coming Together Akron (CTA) is accepting applications for its high school board for the 2007-08 school year. The group is looking for students who will be in ninth through 12th grades who have an interest in improving racial and cultural relations. During the school year, these students will help plan and conduct four workshops for high school students. The board members are also ambassadors at their own school, promoting understanding among all cultures and helping to create or enhance diversity clubs. Participation on the board builds leadership skills, promotes teamwork and fosters concern for community involvement, according to CTA officials. To obtain an application, contact Donna Pulling at (330) 379-3830. The deadline for returning applications is June 20.

Prospective host families are able to review student applications and select the right match. Families who host for PIE also are eligible to claim a $50 per month charitable contribution deduction on their itemized tax returns. For more information, call (866) 546-1402.
