Residents celebrate Neighbors Day

WEST AKRON — Residents living
in Carlton House Condominiums began their Neighbors
Day celebration a day early, with a picnic and gathering
May 25.
Akron’s first Neighbors Day, “Living Together Better,” took place May 26 and was modeled after a similar event observed in many European cities, according to city of Akron officials. Neighbors Day offered the opportunity for neighbors to meet and get to know each other, which the city hopes will promote greater community safety.

Residents who attended the afternoon picnic brought a salad, while other food was provided by a committee of residents who plan events at Carlton House, which houses adults 55 and older. Residents Donna Barracato and Jane Bowser organized the picnic.
