WEST AKRON — Rabbi Stephen Grundfast, of Beth El Congregation in Akron, was re-elected president of the Ohio/West Penn/Northern Kentucky Region of the Rabbinical Assembly at the May convention of the Rabbinical Assembly in Boston. Approximately 35 rabbis are members in the region. The Rabbinical Assembly is the international association of Conservative rabbis and consists of 1,600 members, of which nearly 250 are in Israel. Grundfast’s position requires him to maintain contact with all rabbis in the region. The rabbis are planning a regional study event in Pittsburgh for November.
BATH — The women
of Ghent
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
will sell hand-made egg rolls June 8 from noon to 8
p.m. at the church, 4200 Granger Road. This fund-raiser
is intended to help pay for the church’s new peaked
roof, installation of which was just
completed. Two beef and vegetable egg rolls with fried
rice will be sold for $3. Drinks cost 50 cents per can.
Takeout egg rolls are priced at $10 a dozen.
CUYAHOGA FALLS —
Northminster
Presbyterian Church’s
last Spaghetti Dinner event before summer will take
place June 8 between 5 and 7 p.m. The cost is $7 for
an all-you-can-eat dinner, including a dessert, with
choices of meat sauce, alfredo sauce and marinara sauce,
or a combination plate. There also will be a “BBQue
Cookoff” for the title of “Best BBQue Sandwich”
July 29 from 12:30 to 5 p.m. The cost for that event
is $7, or $3.50 for small appetites. A bouncing room
will be available for children, as well as a volleyball
net and a bake sale. The
church is located at 104 W. Portage Trail Extension.
BARBERTON — A Family Funfest will take place June 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Park Avenue and Sixth Street. The event will include games, food, entertainment, a “Spiderman” bouncy house, line dancing lessons and pony rides. According to organizers, those who bring this announcement to the event will receive five free game tickets. For details, call (330) 745-2161.
WADSWORTH — A Rummage and Bake Sale will take place June 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 16 from 9 a.m. to noon at Sacred Heart Parish School, 110 Humbolt St. Proceeds will benefit the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society.
