The Cuyahoga
Valley Art Center’s
(CVAC) Silent
Auction will take place
July 13-15 to raise funds for the CVAC, 2131 Front St.
One of the year’s major fund-raising activities,
the silent auction coincides with the Italian-American
Festival July 13-15 at Falls River Square. Featured
will be paintings, new art materials, pottery and many
other new items, including small appliances, gift baskets,
services from local merchants, Marc Moon and Betty Williams
prints and craft items. Tickets also will be raffled

• CVNP — The Cuyahoga Valley National Park Association (CVNPA) and the Countryside Conservancy (CC) will present a reception for Farm Art — From Plate to Palette July 27 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the gallery located in the CVNPA administrative office at 1403 W. Hines Hill Road. Guests may tour the art exhibit while enjoying food prepared by chefs using fresh local ingredients. There also will be the opportunity to meet valley farmers and socialize with artists. Farm Art — From Plate to Palette is a juried art show with entries illustrating farming as the heart of this nation’s heritage. All entries will be on display at the John F. • DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Friends of Children’s Hospital is selling raffle tickets to benefit the Akron Children’s Hospital’s Eye Diagnostic Center as part of the 46th Annual Harness Race Rally. Raffle tickets are on sale now through Aug. 1, when the winners will be drawn during the Harness Race Rally event at Northfield Park in Northfield. Winners need not be present. A ride on the Goodyear blimp also will be auctioned. Raffle tickets are being sold for $1 each or six for $5. The grand prize is a 2007 Toyota Corolla. Second prize is a pair of diamond earrings donated by Sterling Jewelers Inc. Third prize is a weekend package for two donated by Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls. Fourth prize is an LG 20-inch flat panel LCD HDTV donated by Akron Rubber Development Inc., and fifth prize is a $100 gift certificate donated by Loren’s Hallmark.
