KENMORE — Summit County Sheriff Drew Alexander and Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh’s Take Me Home program will host an area registration event July 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Kenmore Branch Library, 2200 14th St., S.W. Take Me Home is a database that contains photos and characteristics of children who may have trouble communicating with law enforcement because of disabilities that impact their communication skills. Should officers encounter an individual who is unable to communicate basic information, such as name and where they live, a search can be executed based on characteristics to try and identify the individual. JACKSON — Babies “R” Us at The Strip will throw a party for all expectant mothers, as well as family and friends who may be planning a baby shower, July 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees will receive suggestions on how to plan and enjoy a baby shower and may meet with business representatives who specialize in shower planning, including food, invitations, centerpieces and more.

AKRON — The Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties, 759 W. Market St., is looking for volunteers to provide support to callers on the agency’s 24-hour crisis hotline and advocacy to survivors in a hospital setting. Volunteer training will begin July 30. SUMMIT/MEDINA COUNTY — Big Brothers & Sister of Summit & Medina Counties is selling raffle tickets for two premium seats to a 2007-08 Cleveland Cavs game. The winner also will receive an autographed rookie photograph of LeBron James. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets can call Big Brothers & Sisters at (330) 376-6503. All proceeds will go toward finding mentors for children from single-parent homes in Summit and Medina counties. The drawing will take place at the Golf for Kids’ Sake fund-raiser Aug. 23. The winner need not be present.
