Area tennis players place third at Davis/Wightman

GREATER AKRON — Eight area
tennis players competed in the Midwest Junior Davis/Wightman
Cup Championships June 15-18 at Purdue University.
In the 14-year-old age division, the Northeast Ohio Team placed third out of 14 teams representing the Midwest. Play was one singles, one doubles and one mixed doubles court.
Coached by Kevin
Vaughn, of Beechmont Country Club, the team consisted
of Madison Hromada (of Lorain), Kyle McPhillips (of
Willoughby), Jessica Wharton (of Copley), Natalie Robson
(of Copley), Alex Aleman
(of Cuyahoga Falls), Colton Buffington (of Westlake),
Colin Bernier (of Canton) and Tommy Marx (of Shaker
Heights). Half of the members on the team participate
in the tournament-training program at Towpath Tennis
Center.
