Greenleaf Family Center’s Art Amore’ a success

SILVER LAKE — Greenleaf Family Center held its 16th annual auction and awards dinner at Silver Lake Country Club last month.
According to Greenleaf officials, nearly 200 guests attended the garden-themed auction, entitled Art Amore’ — The Art of Giving, to bid on 120 donated items among which included AirTran and Allegiant airline tickets, vacation condos, a football signed by Cleveland Browns players, a Goodyear blimp ride, Disney World tickets and many home and garden items. Shown at near right are some of the items.
Proceeds from the event — more than $53,000 — will benefit Greenleaf Family Center’s programs that provide counseling, education, advocacy and support to children and families in the community.
The fund-raiser honored Timothy Fitzwater, recently retired president and chief executive officer of National City Bank, Northeast Region, as the recipient of the Betty Dalton Community Service Award, an award honoring outstanding community leadership and involvement. Patricia Shallahamer and Scott Read served as co-chairs for the auction event. Other committee members were Brenda Cummins, Shelly Durbin, Jeff Herold, Judy Joyce, Pamela Sayre, Barb Sanchez and Deborah Stinson.
