FAIRLAWN — West Market Street has been reduced to one lane eastbound at South Smith Road in Fairlawn for an undetermined number of days, according to the city’s Service Department.

SUMMIT COUNTY — Akron General Medical Center and Main Street Gourmet will once again team up for the 15th annual “Muffins for Mammograms” program. Breast health information will be distributed along with orders for muffins, brownies and cookies, with distribution to take place Oct. 9 and 11. Orders will be accepted through September. Proceeds from the fund-raising event will be used to pay for mammograms for uninsured women. Distribution of orders includes pick-up and delivery. SUMMIT COUNTY — The Faith in Action — Interfaith Caregivers program brings together volunteers of many faiths to help people who have long-term health needs or disabilities maintain their independence for as long as possible by providing nonmedical assistance with daily activities. Volunteer activities may include shopping for groceries, providing rides to medical appointments, cooking meals, doing light housework, running errands and providing companionship. Volunteers also may provide respite care and relief for family caregivers. MEDINA COUNTY — The Medina County Women’s Endowment Fund of the Akron Community Foundation recently awarded grants totaling $7,233 to four 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving women and children in Medina County, including:
√ Hands Across Medina County Foundation, for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program, $2,000;
√ Help Me Grow, Medina County Family First Council, for Help Me Grow, $1,733;
√ Society for Handicapped Citizens of Medina County Inc., for a Mini Camp respite-care weekend, $1,000; and
√ Wadsworth Rittman Hospital Foundation, for the Centering Pregnancy program, $2,500.
