host its monthly Caregiver Support Groups on the following

√ Sept. 19 at 12:30 p.m. at the Human Services Building, 246 Northland Drive in Medina; and
√ Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. in the lower level of Fairlawn Lutheran Church, 3415 W. Market St.

DOWNTOWN AKRON — A Multiple Sclerosis Support Group will meet Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at Neurology & Neuroscience Associates (NNA), 130 W. In addition, neurologist Dr. Amir Mazhari will present a discussion on “Multiple Sclerosis — Latest Treatments and Therapies” Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at NNA. Participants will hear about current clinical research and new medical treatments that can modify the course of the disease. FAIRLAWN — Stewart’s Caring Place Cancer Speaker’s Series, involving live and teleconference presentations, will include: “Caring for Your Bones When You Have Prostate Cancer,” Sept. 19 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; “Advanced Care Planning: Making Your Wishes Known,” Sept. 19 at 5:30 p.m. for a light dinner and at 6:30 for the presentation; and “Update on Metastatic Breast Cancer,” Sept. 20 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Preregister by calling (330) 836-1772 or via e-mail at registration@Stew artsCaringPlace.org. CLEVELAND — “Let’s Talk RA” is an Arthritis Foundation program designed for people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It provides tools and tips to better communicate about symptoms and how to get the most from office visits with a rheumatologist. As a part of this program, the Arthritis Foundation has created a free “Let’s Talk RA Communications Kit.” The kit includes a communications guide, health assessment questionnaire, participant survey, important facts about RA and a list of additional resources. DOWNTOWN AKRON — Akron General Medical Center will offer a free screening for stroke and peripheral vascular disease (PVD) Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The screening will take place in the Akron General Heart & Vascular Center, 400 Wabash Ave. Space is limited, so registration is required by calling (800) HEART50. Risk factors of PVD include smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol; symptoms include leg pain when walking, cold feet or legs and numbness and tingling in the feet and legs.
