MERRIMAN VALLEY— “The Lion in Winter” will be on stage Oct. 10-28 at Weathervane Community Playhouse. The production takes place at Christmas time in 1183. Eleanor has been her husband’s prisoner in the castle for 10 years, and she’s about to lose out in the struggle for the succession to the throne. Henry wants to be succeeded by his youngest son, the unpleasant John; Eleanor wants the throne to go to her oldest boy, the warrior Richard. The other son, Geoffrey, isn’t considered at all.
