Issue No. 19 — Valley Fire District levy
BOSTON/PENINSULA — Officials
from the Valley Fire District, serving Boston Township
and the Peninsula Village, are asking voters to approve
Issue No. 19, which is a renewal
of the 6.3-mill, five-year levy used to fund operating
costs of the district.
The levy is expected to collect almost $203,000 and would cost the owner of a $100,000 home about $136.53 annually, according to Boston Township Fiscal Officer Joanne Noragon. The issue does not represent an increase in property taxes for residents.
The issue differs from the 2.5-mill fire levy approved by voters last year, which is earmarked for capital expenses. According Noragon, funds from that levy will be used to purchase a new ambulance this year and a fire truck in the next few years.
Collection for the levy would begin in 2008. — By Maria Lindsay
