Lawsuit against landscaping company moving foward
Boston Township Board of Trustees

Boston Township Solicitor Edward Pullekins told the Boston Township Board of Trustees at the Oct. 24 meeting he expected a hearing date to be set by the end of the month in the township’s lawsuit against All-Ohio Landscaping on Akron-Cleveland Road.
The township is seeking a temporary injunction against the company. The township alleges the company has violated zoning regulations.
Also during the meeting, trustees acknowledged that more than 20 years worth of minutes from trustees meetings are missing from the township’s records. The missing minutes include 14 years from 1934 to 1948, five years from 1963 to 1967 and four years from 1975 to 1979.
Trustee Randy Bergdorf said the minutes were not found when he and township Fiscal Officer Joanne Noragon reviewed township records to determine what no longer needed to be kept. He said it is possible that some former trustees or their heirs have the minute books from those years, since some of the missing records span the four years of a normal term. Bergdorf said the township has not given up on finding the records.
Bergdorf and Noragon have prepared a request to destroy records such as canceled checks and submitted it to the Ohio Records Commission. The commission has requested additional information before granting the request.
Trustees said they have one applicant for the position of zoning inspector and plan to interview the applicant prior to the Nov. 14 meeting. Current Zoning Inspector Paul Kaczmarski has resigned effective Dec. 31. Trustees said they hope to hire a new inspector soon to allow the new hire time to train with Kaczmarski before he leaves the position.
Trustees heard a presentation from Shelly White, of Seibert-Keck Insurance, for liability and property insurance for township officials and property for the coming year. White said she had asked three insurers to provide quotes for the township. One insurer declined to provide a quote because they did not think they would be competitive. Two others did provide quotes.
Trustees said they would evaluate the proposals and choose an insurer at a future meeting.
Noragon told trustees she had received a preliminary quote for township employee health insurance through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. She said the company expected to increase premiums 25 percent to 30 percent. Noragon said she would check with other companies for rates.
The Boston Board of Trustees next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the old equipment garage at the Boston Town Hall, located at the intersection of Main Street and Riverview Road in Peninsula.
