DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Akron Art Museum is presenting two exhibitions this fall — Masumi Hayashi, Meditations: Two Pilgrimages and Close to Home: Watercolors by William Sommer and Raphael Gleitsmann. Both are now open to the public and will remain on view through Jan. 27. Masumi Hayashi, Meditations: Two Pilgrimages, in the Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Gallery, is one of four exhibitions in Northeast Ohio this fall celebrating the work of Cleveland artist Masumi Hayashi, who was murdered in August 2006. The Akron Art Museum, MOCA Cleveland, Cleveland State University Art Gallery and SPACES will join together this fall to celebrate Hayashi’s art. Close to Home, in the Judith Bear Isroff Gallery, presents works drawn from the museum’s collection, which contains major holdings by the two artists. Tonight, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m., the museum will present a gallery talk on Close to Home by Allison Tillinger Schmid, curatorial assistant for the museum.
