• WEST AKRON — The Akron Pride Center will host its inaugural Out at the Races event Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Family Center, 610 W. Exchange St. Tickets are $40 per person, $75 per couple or $300 for a table for eight. The evening will include a buffet dinner, beverages, door prizes, raffles and horse racing. • FAIRLAWN — The 22nd Annual SIDS Benefit Dinner, Auction & Wine Tasting will take place Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. at the St. Thomas Banquet Hall. The funds raised will go toward the Sudden Infant Death (SID) Network’s mission to support those affected by SID, to promote infant health and wellness and to work toward reducing and eventually eliminating SID. • FAIRLAWN — The second Taste of Vintage benefit will take place Nov. 15 at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn from 6 to 9 p.m. Hosted by Goodwill Industries, the event will showcase 150 years of fashion, two auctions and tastings from area restaurants and businesses, including the Akron Woman’s City Club, Big City Chophouse, Bistro on Main, Mangiamo!, Papa Joe’s Restaurant, To Go & Wine Shoppe, Robert J. — Events and Catering, Pearl Coffee Co., West Point Market and West Side Bakery. The silent auction will include a collection of unique art “recreARTed” with objects purchased from Goodwill Retail Stores by artists associated with the Log Cabin Gallery in Peninsula. Items for the live auction will include the rental of a villa in Tuscany, Italy; tickets to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in Chicago; and a family Disney vacation. • DOWNTOWN AKRON — Tickets are available for the Holiday Tree Festival Holiday Gala, set for Nov. 16 at the John S. Knight Center. Guests will have the opportunity to preview and purchase more than 300 trees and other holiday creations on display before the event is open to the public. A silent auction of select items also will be featured during the evening. The gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Gala dinner guests will enjoy a four-course dinner. For guests who prefer a later arrival, gala dessert-only tickets are available at 8 p.m. Gala dinner reservations are $125 per person. Dessert-only tickets are $30 per person.
