Lippman students share classroom with seniors

WEST AKRON — Lippman Day School hosted more than 100 grandparents, aunts, uncles and close family friends for VISIT Day, which took place Oct. 19.
According to school officials, VISIT Day was created as a way for the school to honor the special senior citizens in the students’ lives and to invite families into the school.

The day started off with a snack in the classrooms. The atrium was filled to capacity with students and visitors for the daily prayer service.
Shown above right enjoying a snack are first-grader Evan DeWitt and his visitor Carol DeWitt. The event also included activities for the visitors to experience with their student hosts. The kindergarteners sang songs. The fourth-grade students dissected owl pellets with their visitors and the sixth-graders wrote stories on the topic of “If they were an animal, what animal would you be?” They then read their stories and had their visitors guess the answer.
The morning concluded with a VISIT luncheon.
