What makes you the best candidate for the position?
“I respect my opponent.
He is intelligent and capable. However, as Bruce Killian
leaves the board of trustees to become fiscal officer,
we are losing his 16 years experience from the board.
I have four years experience, and the other
two trustees have a combined eight
years experience. My opponent has
no experience as township trustee. I am committed to
stopping the Cleveland developer who wants to put a
sand and gravel mining operation close to the Young
family farm. I am not in favor of the merger [with Lakemore].
I favor continued cooperation between Springfield and
Lakemore’s safety forces, eventually merging the
two into one police department and
one fire department. I favor promoting economic development,
to bring more jobs to the area, and increase the commercial
and retail real estate tax base, to provide better funding
for our schools.”

What makes you the best candidate for the position?
“I will be a Trustee who
works to build Springfield into a community that attracts
and keeps young families. This requires a proactive
township government. It means implementing a strategic
plan to: 1) build a stronger commercial tax base (to
keep residential taxes lower); 2) aggressively working
to obtain a library branch, develop parks and community
recreational opportunities; 3) develop a long-range
plan to use Springfield’s major natural resource
— Springfield Lake and the lakefront property;
4) enhance cooperation with neighboring entities,
especially Lakemore (to provide
services more efficiently); 5) and broaden citizen participation
— get more of our talented and interested people
actively involved.”
