What makes you the best candidate for the position?
“I am the best candidate
for this position because I’ve lived in Green
for over 25 years. I’ve seen it change from a
farming to a suburban community with the schools doubling
in size. As a district educator, I’ve helped in
the process of transforming schools from what most of
us knew as our school experience to classrooms where
students use technology daily, where we
not only value memorizing of information, but the understanding
of concepts and how to perform
at much higher levels than any of us had
to meet when we were students.
“Children must come first! It’s not about what’s best for schedules, adults or buildings, but about what’s best and necessary for our students to grow prepared for college or work and to be good citizens in today’s complex world.
“I have a Masters in education and spent my career working in this field. My teaching experience includes special education, typical and gifted students. I served on the Otterbein College Board of Trustees for 20 years and have been on the Green Schools Foundation Board since its inception. Working cooperatively with others to make improvements for students is a strong component of my history.”

What makes you the best candidate for the position?
“I am in the business of training effective teachers/coaches in the Teacher Education Programs at The University of Akron. My professional Education/Sport Science background and eighteen (18) years of experience in Higher Education prepares me to serve on the Green Local Schools Board of Education. Additionally, I have been a resident of the
City of Green for the past sixteen
(16) years where both my son and daughter
are studying in the Green Schools. I understand the
challenges that the residents in the community face.
With my involvement in many community/school organizations
I can garner support of the community to address various
issues of our School District. Through the Green Booster
Club and Green Soccer Association I have actively provided
leadership to the various projects in the community
that directly or indirectly benefit the students and
the community at large.”

Formerly, member, Junior Board of Summa Health System (10 years)
What makes you the best candidate for the position?
“I think I am the better candidate because I have four years of experience as a school board member. During these four years I have learned quite a bit about school funding, school policies and the crucial role we play as school board members. I have been a part of the hiring process of two superintendents. I feel the board along with the input of our administration, staff, community members and students have chosen a superintendent that will be actively involved in our community as well as take Green Schools to the next level in education.
“I have strived to make communication between the board and the community better. We now have e-mail access from the school Web site so anyone can share their comments, questions or concerns with us.
“I am actively involved in many community and school organizations and feel I have a real sense of the community’s view of the school system.
“I will continue to listen and learn from parents, teachers and this community to be the best school board member possible.”
