What makes you the best candidate
for the position?
“I believe that I am the
best candidate for the Springfield School Board because
I have the passion and proven experience that is necessary
to be an effective school board member and school leader.
Eight years ago, and again four years later, my Community
put their faith in me that I would help make Springfield
Schools a better place to educate their children and
I believe that I have accomplished this. During my eight
years on the Board, I have been very active in all areas
of our District. I have represented the Springfield
and Lakemore communities
both locally and at the state level, by attending educational
classes, conferences, participating in school funding
initiatives, and by communicating
with our local elected officials on many public school
issues. If re-elected, I will continue my efforts to
make Springfield Schools even better, a place where
people look to when deciding where to send their children.
One of my proudest moments as a board member was to
see our District’s academic achievement climb
from an ‘Academic
Watch’ status to ‘Effective.’ We can
only hope to achieve the next level of ‘Excellent,’
if we have dedicated people who have the desire and
experience to make it happen.”

What makes you the best candidate
for the position?
“I believe I am the best
candidate for this position for
several reasons. I have an excellent sense of the community
and how it has grown and changed over the years, while
still staying consistent with a strong community involvement
and interest.
“I have been a student
of Springfield schools, and am now raising a child in
this school system. As a parent, I have been very active
volunteering in the schools. In 2005, my wife and I
were honored with the Friends of Education Award from
the Springfield Local Association of Classroom teachers
for our dedication to our school system.
“As a local business
owner, I am aware of the importance
of adding new and fresh ideas to a problem. As a small
business owner, I have the challenge not just of naming
a problem but doing the hands-on work to solve it. I
will bring this energy and hands-on approach to helping
develop policy for Springfield schools. This will affect
all aspects of the school system, including innovative
ideas for fund raising to help relieve the tax payer
of some of the burden of funding our schools.”
