WEST AKRON — Senior Independence Adult Day Center will celebrate its 25th anniversary today, Nov. 29. The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. with musical entertainment by the Westminster Hand Bell Choir, followed by an invocation at 1 p.m. Elaine Taggart, the original executive director, will offer her reflections on the history of the center, located at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St. Formerly known as West Knoll Eldercare, the Adult Day Center has grown to include a North Canton site. Senior Independence Adult Day Center offers families health and social services to improve the lives of adults with decreased socialization or physical, functional or cognitive impairments. The center also offers older adults social interaction with peers, a program of stimulating activities, therapy in a nonmedical environment and assistance with daily activities.
