DOWNTOWN AKRON — Several Akron Public Schools’ (APS) student artists were honored at a reception May 11 for the district’s Art in Business program. Among the students receiving certificates for their contributions to the program were Ashley Mink, a fourth-grader at Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts, who is shown at right top next to her work.

Charlie Parsons, a sixth-grader at Miller South, is pictured at right bottom with Dave Tschantz, of Peters, Tschantz & Associates. The engineering firm was one of the sponsors of the event and also purchased Charlie’s art to display at their offices.

Julienne Hogarth, interim director of APS’ Visual and Performing Arts programs, is shown at left bottom as she talks about the program.

The students’ work, which was framed and matted for the program, will be in the gallery through tomorrow, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to APS officials.
