Located at 1947 W. Market St., behind CVS Pharmacy, the restaurant is owned by Monty and Caitlin Butler, who became the owners two months ago.
“We are a mom-and-pop place,” said Monty Butler. “Our atmosphere here is quaint. We have a patio and offer a nice place to come eat good food or dessert and talk.”
Butler said the menu at the Sandwich Board is designed to cater to customers at lunch or early dinner. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.
“We offer healthy options, fresh produce and something different,” he added. “We can also customize any sandwich and serve half orders.”
Selections include: the Pita Pan (with peanut butter, honey, bananas, raisins and sprouts), the California Pita (avocado, tomato, Swiss cheese and sprouts), the Pita Hayworth (chicken breast salad, lettuce and sprouts) and the Leaning Tower of Pita (sauerkraut, mushrooms, tomatoes, sprouts and cream and Swiss cheese); the Greek (provolone cheese, roasted red pepper, cucumber, tomato, red onion and black olives), the Italian (capicola, hard salami, provolone and roasted red peppers) and the Hidden panini (turkey breast on marbled rye with tomato and Swiss cheese).
A vegetarian reuben made with cream cheese, mushrooms, tomato, green peppers, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and sprouts also is available.
Two fresh homemade soups, such as potato and brisket, and tomato and cheddar are available daily in cup and bowl sizes, as well a quiches such as quiche Lorraine (with bacon, onion and provolone) and the margarita quiche (with basil and mozzarella).
Salad selections include the pea salad (made with mixed greens, spinach, Swiss cheese, bacon, onion, peas, sprouts and green peppers), spinach strawberry salad and the sunburst fruit salad (seasonal fruit surrounded by yogurt and topped with sunflower seeds, raisins, granola and coconut).
Meatier fare such as the Southwestern cobb salad (mixed greens, turkey, roasted corn salsa, green chile peppers, black beans, tomato and cheddar cheese) and salmon and smoked brisket, also are available.
Diners can choose to end their meal with desserts such as Lou and Hy’s cheesecakes, carrot cake and key lime pie, he said.
Butler added that crockpot meals for takeout, offering home-cooked meals for those who don’t want or have time to cook, will be coming in the fall.
The Sandwich Board also offers catering services. For details, contact the business at 330-869-5653.
