FAIRLAWN — Dr. Arthur Benson has a family dentistry practice at 3618 W. Market St., Suite 101, that serves patients from age 3 to senior citizens.

According to business officials, the practice offers preventive care, corrective services and cosmetic dentistry.

Benson said 30 years in the business has given him the experience to respond to a variety of patients’ issues.

“I understand how bad dental experiences or dental phobias can affect a patient, and I am sensitive to those needs,” he said. “I try to make them feel confortable about going to the dentist.”

Benson said he has patients who now bring their own children in for a variety of dental services. Those services range from check-ups to crowns and dentures as well as work to improve a patient’s smile. Corrective work including braces and the use of Invisalign® — invisible aligners — is also available. Benson also can redo fillings that are wearing out in adults.

“We also offer sealants that can help reduce tooth decay in young children, fillings that preserve a tooth, and bonding to cover spots,” he said. “Cosmetic dentistry is for everyone, from young kids who are teased about imperfections and older adults who have lived for a long time with their own teeth.”

Cosmetic procedures include teeth whitening and contouring, as well as metal-free crowns, veneers and bonding and work needed after the use of orthodontics.

“We talk to people to find out what they don’t like about their smile and then offer options for corrections,” said Benson. “We like to educate our patients so that they can make an informed decision.”

Benson said addressing dental problems often involves multiple issues, and he likes to make sure his patients understand what is needed. He also will make referrals for services not available in his practice and personally responds to emergency calls made after hours as soon as possible.

According to his website, www.drarthurbenson.com, Benson received a bachelor’s degree in biology at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey in 1978 and graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1982. He served in the Naval Reserve Dental Program for three years, entered private practice in 1985 and opened his own practice in 1990. Benson is a member of several dental associations and was recognized in Northern Ohio Live Magazine as a “Top Dentist” in 2009.

Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make an appointment, call 330-666-8757. After hours, the number offers guidelines for emergencies and a contact number for Benson.
