GREEN — South Side News Leader account executive Natalie Mitchell received the 2012 Green Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Award at the Chamber’s Dec. 7 holiday event.

“The Ambassador Award is the Green Chamber’s version of a Volunteer of the Year award,” said Chamber CEO Lori Howerton. “It is for someone who helps the chamber any time in any way. They are often recommending businesses join; bringing guests to events and meetings; volunteering to help on the day of an event, on committees and behind the scene. This is a real ‘go to’ kind of person.”

Howerton said Mitchell has been dedicated to the chamber for the past 10 years.

“She has worked diligently to ‘sell’ local businesses on resources like the chamber while selling advertising for the South Side News Leader,” said Howerton. “Most recently she has been actively involved in the Green Chamber’s ‘Keep Your Green in Green’ movement. She sees the big picture. She understands that even though she does not live in Green, she can support the ‘Keep Your $ in Green’ movement by her doing her shopping in Green. And she is building great relationships at the same time. Natalie is very passionate and is a positive face when marketing the chamber. Natalie helps and supports the chamber and the businesses of greater Green in any way that she is able to.”

Cambria Suites Hotels’ Sales Director Deborah Mason presented the 2012 honor to Mitchell at the holiday event.

The first recipient of the award was Denise Dennewitz, director of marketing for Copeco.

The Green Chamber of Commerce, a private not-for-profit action organization dedicated to advancing the interests of businesses and professional firms in the city of Green and the surrounding communities, was formed in 2000 and now has almost 200 members, according to chamber officials.
