Last year, the doctor of podiatry opened Prestige Foot and Ankle Center, where he and his staff treat foot and ankle problems and injuries. The office is located at 784 Medina Road, Suite 107, in Sharon Township.
“One of the most common issues we treat is ankle pain, heel pain and general foot pain,” Limperos said. “We see a lot of fractures and a lot of sports injuries. We also do a lot of diabetic and wound care. That’s our main patient population.”
He added the office treats patients ranging from children to senior citizens.
Limperos said he became interested in podiatry after enduring a foot injury as a college football player at Baldwin Wallace University.
“I had to have surgery, and it was a major thing for me,” he said. “Originally I was going to do dentistry, but after that I wanted to be a podiatrist.”
He graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine and then completed three years of training at Summa Western Reserve Hospital in reconstructive surgery and trauma of the foot and ankle.
At Prestige, Limperos said he aims to provide the latest technology to help his patients, such as the DRX X-ray machine. He said advances in implants, plates and screws are “phenomenal.”
“We can do arthroscopic ankle surgery with a small incision,” he said. “It all helps us to get people on their feet faster.”
His practice also provides state-of-the-art techniques to provide improved orthotics to patients.
“In the old days, to make a custom orthotic, they used a cast or foam box,” he said. “Now we use a scanner that takes a 3-D scan of the foot and the lab makes a custom orthotic.”
Orthotics can usually help people who work on their feet and complain of foot pain, he said.
Limperos said he also treats a lot of runners.
“I love the challenge with runners,” he said, noting that they often come to him with problems such as stress fractures, blisters and “runners nail.”
Taking good care of the feet is important to quality of life, the doctor stressed.
“Most people take their feet for granted until they have an injury,” he said. “If you can’t walk, you realize how precious your feet are.”
