FAIRLAWN — Pam’s Posies is continuing a tradition of service and quality started 41 years ago.

The full-service florist was started by Pam Williams in 1972. In 2007, Williams retired and sold the business to Greg Ress. In the past six years, the business has continued to flourish, according to Williams.

“I am very pleased and proud with what Greg has done with the business and how it has continued to grow,” she said. “The floral designers have kept up with the quality and trends that Pam’s Posies has always been known for.”

Williams said she has remained in contact with Ress to offer advice when needed. She added he has doubled the business since he purchased it and he opened a second location in Dover last year. The business has been voted the No. 1 florist shop in Ohio for the last several years, she added.

Ress said the business focuses on providing one of the widest assortments of flowers in the area, going well beyond the usual carnations, mums and roses generally available. The shop also offers blooming plants, small gifts, artificial wreaths and flowers all made to order. Delivery service is free in the Akron area.

The designers can create arrangements to celebrate and mark a variety of occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, new babies and romantic occasions, as well as sympathy and funerals.

“Our floral designers have 70 years of experience, and they keep up with all of the contemporary trends in the industry,” he said. “We pride ourselves on producing beautiful, open and airy European garden-style arrangements, as well as the traditional floral styles.

“We also buy the freshest, high-quality flowers, which last longer, from local flower growers.”

Pictures of the designs are available on the business website at www.pamsposies.com.

Ress said his plans to grow the business include a new website to launch this fall that can compete on a national level and a cell phone application for the business. He added the advantage of his website will be that customers will be able to talk to a florist and get exactly what they order.

“The website will provide the convenience of online shopping and also offer the full value of beautiful arrangements, all designed to create customers that will want to return to us,” said Ress.

Pam’s Posies, located at 110 Merz Blvd., is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is closed Sundays except for funeral work.
